Manager of Accounting-Service Business :

DESCRIPTION: Our client, a $600 million unit of a large manufacturer, seeks a Manager of Accounting to join their Service Business team. This position will provide you with the opportunity to take full charge of the accounting and financial statement reporting processes, as well as provide future advancement potential either within this group or other divisions of the company. You will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the systems and processes currently in place, initiate improvements to formulate a best practices environment and manage the entire accounting process. Responsibilities include the supervision and development of 8-10 staff; full responsibility for the closing process, including overseeing the reconciliation of accounts, recording of journal entries and preparation of financial statements; ensure that accounting principles are being followed relating to all areas of the general ledger and particularly relating to the percentage of completion accounting rules; work closely with operations executives to assist with financial analysis and process improvement initiatives; ensure that the accounting for projects is being performed on an accurate and timely basis, including appropriate financial analysis; encourage and lead process improvement initiatives to streamline the monthly closing and reporting process; manage special projects.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; 6+ years of progressive experience in either public accounting or private industry; strong technical accounting skills; experience with the percentage of completion method of accounting, project accounting or Government accounting a plus; ability to get along with people at all levels of the organization; excellent communication skills.
